Our long term relationship with Nacoa is a story of digital transformation. Through pro-bono work and funded grants we have helped them to build out their resources and capabilities.

Nacoa are a national, Bristol-based charity, founded in 1990 to address the needs of children growing up in families where one or both parents suffer from alcoholism.

What they said

Working with Modular has been transformational for Nacoa. To create new parts of our charity’s service, they took time to understand the whole. Our bespoke content management system has provided us the ability to flexibly create website content that genuinely attracts and moves people to action.

Developing a flagship

Over the last eight years we have supported and collaborated with Nacoa on a number of projects. Starting with branding and a simple static website we went on to develop a new multi-purpose flagship site with companion campaign sites incorporating message boards, online resources, live chat and donation mechanics.

Launched in 2020, Nacoa’s new site was their first fully functional CMS, giving them greater control over their content. Incorporating donation and membership mechanics and many other functions as well as a campaign subsite for the annual COA week, the new site marks the start of a new period in Nacoa’s transformation in a digital space.

Initially Nacoa used a traditional phone based support helpline. Through incremental steps we have helped them extend their reach to an online community. We achieved this by creating audience focussed digital resources, message boards and an online chat service.

We have worked closely with Nacoa to understand and appreciate the circumstances of their audiences, making sure that these are taken into account in every aspect of the design and build we undertake for them. Diverse needs are accounted for and trauma informed design ensures that user expectations are met with content laid out in an honest and clear fashion.

Adding a personal element of reassurance and community to the site, we have also been continually developing a shared “experiences” section to the site. This, along with the various new features which make creating, publishing and managing their content easier, has revolutionised the way Nacoa can deliver support.

Clifton Suspension Bridge

The Bristol based charity, who run and maintain the iconic Clifton Suspension Bridge, needed a site that caters to a range of audiences and a variety of user needs.

In 2018 we began working with Selwood - not long after they took ownership of their newly built site. They were looking for a long term digital partner to maintain and improve their existing site.
