Relaunching Tech4Good South West

In 2024 Tech4Good South West entered an exciting phase of metamorphosis transforming from an informal collective to a CIC and membership organisation.

At Modular we’re huge advocates of Tech4Good and have supported a number of clients and projects locally and globally, charities, SMEs and NGOs, to embrace technology and drive positive impact for our global eco-sytem. We are active ambassadors of Tech4Good South West and have been hugely excited by the potential the new CIC can deliver to the area.

Driven by the inspirationally passionate social entrepreneur Annie Legge, Tech4Good South West relaunched in March 2024 to create a regional tech for good community to address how technology can support society and tackle the unintended consequences of the digital age.

A vibrant community of people across the South West are coming together to share knowledge and ideas, match needs with skills, and create  space to innovate, together.

Tech4Good South West is about creating an organisation that everyone can get behind. Own it, be part of it. Be more proactive. Individually and collectively, hold a sense of responsibility for our future, the planet and community. So that, as members we can be champions of how we manage our tech.

Our mission is to build a regional tech for good ecosystem to address how technology can respond to societal and environmental issues and debate unintended consequences of the digital age…from addressing digital poverty, mental health & well-being and environmental impacts, to ethical implications of emerging technologies, accessibility and digital skills.

New era, new brand

Not only were we keen to sign up as a member but also to support where we could with the relaunch.

As part of its evolution, the legacy brand and visual identity no longer fully reflected all that Tech4Good South West stands for and has to offer. It needed refreshing but at the same time was to remain connected to the original roots of the community. The brand was entering into an era centred on connection, community, curiosity and most importantly change.

The team at Modular were more than happy to help and give Tech4Good South West a new visual identity.

We knew getting the tone and vibe of the logo would pave the way for how the organisation could start projecting itself and representing the community – the logo had to not just look good but “feel” good.

Creating a new logo for Tech4Good South West

Taking the elements of the legacy logo, way more emphasis needed to be placed on the “good” – we needed to make it stand out as the prominent element, grab attention.

One more emphasis was placed on the “good” more balance could be achieved between the “Tech” element and the “4” – it was really essential that the tech became more of an equal part of the logo and seen as a conduit for doing good.  Choosing rounder softer fonts allowed the logo to project more warmth and inclusion.  Opting for colours that mirrored that of the planet – blues and green hues – we were able to add movement and energy to the logo.

Overall, we created a logo style that could be adaptable. One that also paves the way for different locations as the community expands across the region. So from there, we set about expanding the brand identity and creating a brand colour palette, brand guidelines and a range of assets.

Tech4Good South West actively champions those doing good with tech in the region.

Looking ahead

Rebranding is often a pivotal moment in an organisations evolution. It is an opportunity to reshape your visual narrative.

The rebrand for Tech4Good South West felt like a defining moment, setting the stage for the next chapter of our growth. It was important to me that it reflect the increasing energy, enthusiasm, and shared purpose across our community, signalling our readiness to take meaningful action together.  I hoped the rebrand would embrace our evolution, showcasing not just who we are but the ambition we have to drive positive change. I’m proud of how it reflects the essence of our mission and embraces the exciting future we are building.

Annie Legge, Director

As Tech4Good South West continues on its mission, we will continue to support them with their brand evolution and needs.

Curate marketing collateral – digital banners, icons, event banners, social media assets… all the essential materials that bolster the organisation as it expands, branch out into other areas, bang the drum for all those people and projects championing Tech4Good in the South West.
