Jargon-Busting

Woman on a mission

I’m on a mission to demystify the technical jargon that shrouds the design, build and aftercare when building a website. With terms like Content Management, Cascading Style Sheets and User Experience being thrown around like digital confetti, it’s about time someone cleared things up.

No prior knowledge

Having joined a digital team with no prior knowledge, I know how hard it can be to get the hang of things. I spent the first few years wondering what the heck everyone was talking about. It takes time to learn and there is no guidebook. Not even a map on how to get there.

As content management systems (websites where you edit the content yourself, without relying on a developer) like WordPress have evolved and opened up quick, efficient publishing potential, sadly our education around them falls short.

Does my backend look big in this?

No one should have to worry about their front end and how it differs from their backend, or what the heck an SSL is and will the DNS make it blow up. Is it made in HTML or CSS? What even is CSS?

This is the stuff of nightmares.

Over the next year I want to bust open the jargon and make understanding the technical language of your website  easy, so you can be  self sufficient and confident using your systems.

I’ll be posting articles, discussion pieces and sharing jargon busters as I learn them.

As I travel the path of technology, I’ll be adding to my Jargon Busting Bibliography which will be shared with all.

Throughout my quest, I will be reaching out to marketing professionals across the land to find out what your Website  nightmares are and how we can help get rid of them.

Who you gonna call?
